What is a Certified Medication Aide?

A Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is a professional caregiver who is licensed to administer medications under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in an Assisted Living Facility or Residential  Home Setting. If you are a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) or Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) with an active NJ license looking to further their career in the health industry and be able to administer medication then becoming a Certified Medication Aide is for you.

Most frequent questions and answers

The Certified Medication Aide  course runs  48 hours comprised of eight individual 6 hour days.  

Once the 48 hours of classroom instruction are successfully completed our administrators will aid you in scheduling your skills evaluation comprised of 3 individual Med Passes. Each Med Pass will be held in one of our partnering facilities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. After successful completion of your Med Passes you will be able to schedule your final exam with the testing company PSI. 

In accordance with New Jersey law students must successfully complete their full 48 hours of classroom learning before their scheduled Med Pass skills evaluation begin. For specific dates, please click here

The CMA course is $925 total. The course total must be paid in full before the start of class. 

There is also an $53 testing fee to be paid to PSI upon scheduling the final exam. Students who have successfully completed the 48 hour course and 3 Med Passes will be given 3 opportunities to take the final exam within 6 months before needing to re-take the class. Each time a student re-takes the test they will be required to pay the $53 testing fee to PSI.

The CMA course does not require the use of a computer but a Powerpoint enabled device is needed to utilize the study guide provided to each student. 

Courses are typically scheduled every month and posted in the upcoming events tab.
